Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or General Business Administration and 6 years related experience.
To assist the Senior Administrator / Administrator of a School of Medicine (SOM) Department in operational and financial reporting, accounting, month-end and year-end activities, measuring trends, monthly forecasting, budgeting, analysis, grants and other financial activities with a broad functional or organizational scope.
This position is a pay grade AP13 in the A&P Salary Plan.
Specific Job Related Duties
Manages and analyzes business operations and identifies areas where processes can be implemented to effect improvements
Instrumental in developing and maintaining fiscal and operational systems necessary for strategic and tactical business planning
Accountable for accurate reporting and meeting all external reporting deadlines
Maintains and monitors the Administrative Support Group's (ASG) general ledger chart of accounts
Understands and analyzes the impact of grant and contract revenue on income statements
Maintains positive and professional relationships with individuals in pertinent entities both on and off campus
Reviews and approves all journal entries for accuracy and responds to ASG audit questions
Assists in the School of Medicine budget process for the ASG.
Develops and compiles statistical and financial information for the ASG.
Performs analyses related to budget trends and variances
Assumes responsibility for responding to financial inquires and budget variance reports from the Dean's Office
Performs monthly departmental account reconciliations against Hyperion reports derived from the Dean's Office
Enhances the financial performance of the ASG through the education of faculty and training of staff
Manages facilities and IT planning
Manages Purchasing and Accounts Payable functions of the ASG.
Assists in developing marketing plans for the existing and new businesses within the ASG, as well as a statistical analysis of those plans.
Responsible for the coordination of benchmarking efforts across the School of Medicine
Assists the Chairs, Administrator, Dean, and Chief Operations Officer with the implementation of the School of Medicine's vision and goals
Assumes responsibility for taking a proactive approach to servicing customers
Responsible for the oversight of planning and managing facilities projects in the department, to include new construction and renovation
Assumes responsibility for recruitment, supervision and continuing development of professional and support staff
Develops and implements administrative policies, programs, and internal procedures
Assists in the development of business plans for potential new services or business lines to ensure the ASG achieves its financial goals
Identifies appropriate internal controls for the ASG and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or General Business Administration and 6 years of related experience required.
Preferred Education / EXPERIENCE:
MBA or other Related Masters Degree
PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion experience
Given: Administrative Manager and other professional and support staff.
Total impact of operational and grant budgets combined > $100 million.
Makes independent decisions and is accountable to the Administrator and Chairmen for accomplishment of jointly formulated goals and objectives.
