Assist the Head Coach with all phases of an NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Program including assisting with the overall organization, direction, supervision and administration of the Women’s Basketball program. Duties include: recruiting student athletes within the rules and philosophy of both the NCAA and Mansfield University; evaluating personnel; emphasizing academic priorities to student athletes; assisting with organizing/conducting practices and games; performing related administrative tasks; fundraising; supervising work study students; coordinating team travel arrangements; and maintaining appropriate communication with students, other coaches, university staff, parents, and alumni.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree; previous collegiate basketball playing experience; three years’ experience coaching women’s basketball at the high school head or collegiate level; and completion of a successful interview. Additional qualifications: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to write and orally communicate clearly and accurately; ability to demonstrate women’s basketball skills; ability to recruit student-athletes into a program committed to academic and athletic excellence; must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship both on and off the court; must demonstrate a commitment to diversity; must have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations and be committed to their implementation and observance; knowledge of or experience with budgeting, travel planning, fundraising; and proficient computer skills (Excel, Word); and possession of a valid driver’s license. The successful applicant must have certification in CPR and First Aid within six months of the commencement of employment and must maintain certification during employment. Effectively relate to and communicate with high school and college student-athletes. Work effectively in a team environment. Working nights and weekends is required. Must be able to perform physical tasks necessary for game/court preparation for competition and practices including lifting and carrying over 50 pounds.
