The Assistant Dean for Finance (Assistant Dean) serves as the principal deputy of the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Planning in long-range financial planning and direction of the fiscal operations of the College and all its constituent units. The College of Arts & Sciences administers over seventy units with more than 780 faculty teaching over 15,000 undergraduate and 2,100 graduate students. The Assistant Dean position is responsible for establishing and overseeing the operation of systems for budget planning, monitoring and analysis of this administration’s complex funding structure. The Assistant Dean will lead the development and implementation of financial systems and plan, administer and monitor the financial and operational policies of the College.

Educational Requirements

An MBA or relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required with a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 7 years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum two years accounting experience. Familiarity and direct personal experience with contemporary computing technology MIS strongly preferred. Superior communication skills, attributes of good judgment and tact, leadership and team building capacity, and the basic intellectual capability to relate effectively to faculty members, senior College of Arts and Sciences administrators, campus officers, and external agency officials in a collegial, peer-to-peer fashion. The Assistant Dean must be able to inspire trust and confidence in the functioning of the position on the part of all with whom he or she interacts.
