The Assistant Dean for RN- BS and MS Programs is a member of the Nursing Faculty and assists the Associate Dean in responding to administrative issues as well as management and oversight of the delivery and development of the curriculum for the specified program(s).
The roles and responsibilities of the Assistant Dean include:
Curriculum development, delivery, implementation and evaluation
Human resource manager
Fiscal manager including preparing budget and monitoring expenditures
Participant in professional development and community activities
Supervision of respective team (for the Assistant Dean of the associate degree program this includes Regional Performance Assessment Centers directors)
The Assistant Deans work closely with all other School of Nursing Staff and faculty and supportive units of the college such as the Center for Educational Measurement and the Center for Online Education and Learning Services to ensure quality of the respective program and services. Staff and faculty include Directors of Advisement and Evaluation, Associate Deans and the Dean, the Assistant Director of Research and Program Evaluation, faculty program directors, support staff, and consulting faculty members who support curriculum development and delivery, including Nursing Faculty Committee members, Curriculum Committee members, and adjunct faculty.
The Assistant Deans report to an Associate Dean of the School of Nursing or designee. Travel is required of all faculty and administrative personnel. The amount of travel varies by position and may be extensive.

A Master’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required
. An earned Doctorate or significant progress toward completion of doctorate is preferred for the undergraduate program and required for the graduate program. Other qualifications include:
A license to practice nursing in the state of New York
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication
Ability to work with diverse constituencies and staff
Demonstrated commitment to non-traditional education
Experience in nursing education and curriculum development appropriate to program level
Experience in on-line education required.
