Student Life is one of four functional areas of the Division of Student Affairs. The Vision of the Office states: Student Life, through dynamic and innovative approaches, will be an essential partner in the education, development, and empowerment of the whole student. This vision is accomplished using the Social Change Model, Wellness and Personal Contact and Outreach as the three operational and developmental approaches in our practice.

The Assistant Director will manage and develop the student organizations and involvement area of Student Life, including advising the Recognized Organizations Council, a chartered organization that supports clubs and organizations. Additionally, the Assistant Director will partner with and aid in the implementation of various programs in other areas of Student Life, including transitional experiences, leadership, campus events, multicultural and diversity affairs, and campus governance.

Responsibilities *
  • Advise and supervise the Recognized Organizations Council (ROC) a 9 person student-staff that supports recognized student organizations. *
  • Provide a high level of outreach, connection and support to 130+ student organizations, their officers and advisors. *
  • Manage and implement annual involvement and organization-related programs, i.e. semi-annual Involvement Fair, annual organizations conference (OrgCon), training modules for officers, advisors and membership (ROC Live). *
  • Manage application process, allocation, and distribution of student organization funding. *
  • Provide direction and oversight of the Student Life Awards for individual students and student organizations. *
  • Oversee education and application of university policies and procedures for student organizations. *
  • Manage, implement and annually update the Student Organizations Manual. *
  • Serve on the Student Life Discipline Review Team for Student organizations. *
  • Oversee and provide leadership for the co-curricular transcript. *
  • Provide leadership for involvement-related transitional programs, including: *
    • management and support of the Involvement Inventory taken by new students during orientation, and provide direction for data use throughout the year *
    • support of new student Orientation efforts *
    • active participation on transitional program committees, i.e. Getting to Year 2, Getting to Real Life *
  • Provide leadership and support for developing commuter student support programs, including support of Commuter Assistants program. *
  • Provide program development and support to areas such as Homecoming and Welcome Days. *
  • Implement assessment plan, including analysis and maintenance of data. *
  • Develop and oversee a section of the Student Life budget. *
  • Oversee student organization financial transactions, including processing of payment requests. *
  • Oversee the use and upkeep of Collegiate Link, an online organization management tool. *
  • Manage student organization use of resources through Collegiate Link, 25Live, Work Orders, Van rentals, equipment checkout, etc. *
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
