Sequel Youth and Family Services of Owens Cross Roads is seeking an experienced Assistant Executive Director to provide sound management and effective service of all direct care departments. Located approximately 20 miles southeast of Huntsville, SYFS of Owens Cross Roads is a residential treatment facility serving adolescent girls, ages 12-18, who experience significant behavioral disorders. The girls are referred to our program by DHR and DYS.

The Assistant Executive Director plans, organizes, and coordinates the daily activities of program to maximize effectiveness and eliminate duplication of effort. The Assistant Executive Director is responsible to the Vice President of Operations, Alabama Division.
Duties include: Evaluates the work of staff to ensure that the services provided are of appropriate quality and that resources are used effectively. Develop and monitors activities and functions (i.e. Family Day, Outings, and Positive Peer Culture) of the program to insure high quality of service. Consults with and advises the VP of Operations, Alabama Division on problems relating to program operations. Recommends and initiates changes in policies/procedures to carry out objectives of the program more effectively. Assists in the administration and coordination of program activities. Reviews program activities and makes recommendations for change in better utilization of buildings, services, staff, etc. Interprets program policies, objectives and operational procedures to department heads and other staff as designated by the VP of Operations. Resolves problems with utilization of staff and equipment. Assumes responsibility for student records meeting all applicable standards. Oversees Medicaid systems to ensure that standards are followed. Participates in and attends staff conferences, committees, etc. to evaluate and plan program services. Reviews management of cases, assignments, case problems, issues, and methods of service. Responsible for developing monthly schedules and serving in the "On Call" rotation. Oversees the child abuse/neglect, investigation of student complaints, and the students' grievance process. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing; hiring; compensation; training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Requirements:
Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field.
A minimum of three years experience in the management and supervision of staff with progression of responsibility in prior positions.
Prior experience in a facility which meets licensing or accreditation standards.
Previous experience with adolescents ages 12-18.
