As an Assistant Family Teacher, you will be interacting with a juvenile population in our Non Secure Placement Family Homes program that provides behavior modification and skill building for youth in a family style environment. You will also guide and teach youth on appropriate skills and behaviors and provide youth with moral, spiritual and educational development needed for future success by implementing the Boys Town Model. The guidance and feedback to the youth will involve day-to-day functions such as: personal hygiene, behavioral issues, and interaction with their peers. You will be trained on how to provide feedback utilizing a cognitive/behavioral based program that centers on a motivation (point) system and focuses on modifying the children’s behavior by teaching skills to help them be successful and productive citizens. This position will be based in Brooklyn/Queens home and the schedule is typically from 2:30pm to 10:30pm during the week and various hours at the weekend. During the 7 day week an Assistant Family Teacher will work up to 5 days, they will also be scheduled to work 2 weekends per month.

- To be 22 years of age or older
- High School diploma or equivalent is required, college degree preferred
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Strong desire and ability to work with youth
- Willingness to work flexible hours, which will include weekends and holidays.
- Ability to pass a medical examination and a thorough background check and reference verification procedure in order to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care for youth
- Attend two weeks paid training in Omaha, Nebraska
