Assist the Head Coach with all phases of a Collegiate Sprint Football League Football program including assisting with the overall organization, direction, supervision and administration of the program. Duties include: evaluating personnel; emphasizing academic priorities to students athletes; assisting with organizing/conducting practices and games; performing related administrative tasks; and maintaining appropriate communication with students, other coaches, university staff, parents, and alumni. May assist with the recruitment of student athletes and fundraising; within the rules and philosophy of the NCAA, CSFL, and Mansfield University.

Minimum requirements: A bachelor’s degree, one year of successful football coaching experience and the completion of a successful interview. Additional qualifications: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to perform physical tasks involved with demonstrating football skills; must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship both on and off the field; demonstrate a commitment to diversity; have an understanding of NCAA rules, regulations and be committed to their implementation and observance; and possession of a valid driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one upon commencement of employment). Must have certification in CPR and First Aid within six months of the commencement of employment and must maintain certification during employment (current possession of these certifications preferred). Demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University’s principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service ( and the University’s strong student-centered vision and mission. Preferred: Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets (Microsoft Word & Excel). Other conditions of employment are verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of original transcripts and an acceptable background check report.

Essential Functions:
Recruiting, scouting, driving, and use of organizational and computer skills required. Teaching-related skills and the ability to take direction from the head coach are essential. Communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including alumni, friends, parents, faculty, campus staff and the local community. Must have the ability to relate to and communicate with high school and college student athletes. Travel to away games may be required as salary permits; must be able to work effectively in a team environment; working nights and weekends may be required.

Job Status:

Temporary, part-time positions beginning with the 2013 Fall Season. Salary is in accordance with the APSCUF Collective Bargaining Agreement for Coaches.
