Position Specification

Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Assistant GM – Oilfield Services will be responsible for effectively plans, manages and sustains the company’s overall oilfield services effort through the coordination and management of operations, human resources, payroll, and business development. This position will be involved in the development and promotion of Company activities, while demonstrating leadership in preserving the health and safety of all operations and staff.

This position will be directly involved with clients and manage various projects at any given time.

On a day-to-day basis, the Assistant GM – Oilfield Services will interact with various groups and levels of management within the company

Key Working Relationships:
This position will be reporting to the President of Transfield Services – Resources and Energy Division

Key Responsibilities


Implement best practices in company’s exploration and development


Ensuring achievement of the company’s targets


Developing and monitoring overall operational expenses; taking corrective actions to rectify variances


Developing new strategies to increase profit and growth with safe and cost-efficient methods

Ensure that staff are continually developed in current or for future roles

Lead the project estimating process, participate in project bid review meetings and approve manufacturing estimates

Participate in the weekly sales meeting,

weekly operations meeting, monthly financial review and yearly strategic planning meetings

Provides leadership to project team to identify and mitigate issues to ensure project success.

Maintains effectiveness even with time lost due to travel

Selection Criteria

Education / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and/or Business Preferred or equivalent work experience


Minimum (5) years of applicable work experience


Minimum of three (3) years of experience in supervising oilfield services projects, preferably in the Rocky Mountain Region


A thorough understanding of oilfield services and operations success methods


Project planning and scheduling experience


Management experience from both Construction and Engineering perspectives


Strong financial skills, people skills, computer skills and demonstrates knowledge of local regulations


Crisis Management Skills


Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

It should be noted that the appointee is expected to take on other duties as may be directed by the Chief Operating Officer and, or the Chief Executive Officer from time to time.
