With accountability to the Manager and/or Director of Health Education, manages the delivery of health education services, either within a medical center/satellite facility, or within a service line across the Area. In this role, it manages overall operations of the health education department & ensures compliance with regulatory agencies. This position collaborates w/ administrators, physicians, & staff on health education policies & preventive health strategies, develops & implements region wide integration of health education programs, services, & systems that may bridge multiple departments or facilities. In addition, it supervises instructors & staff, develops & monitors project budgets, & expects consistently to exercise discretion & independent judgment. Essential Functions:
• Manages day-to-day operations of the health education departments well as the associated staff & ensures & provides the highest quality of services to members
• Authorizes hiring/firing & to give annual competency assessments of staff
• Develops & implements action plans to improve staff development
• Assists in the development & maintenance of the day-to-day operational budgets
• Develops & manages grant proposals
• Assists in the establishment & implementation of strategic goals & priorities
• Manages the design, implementation, & evaluation of multi-disciplinary projects, which improve accessibility, increase member satisfaction, & control costs in alignment w/ TPMGs strategic goals & objectives
• In conjunction w/ the Manager or Director of Health Education, physicians, & staff, identifies health education strategies, interventions, & resource allocation to promote & integrate high quality health education services in the clinical setting
• Manages & conducts complex needs assessments, promoting continuum of care
• Defines, develops, implements measures for evaluating interventions/health education services
• Collaborates w/ regional health education & KFH to assure health education programs are consistent & high quality, serves the needs of our members, & meets the regional mandated initiatives
• Develops & administers a business plan that generates resources to enhance program offerings, quality, & access
• Consults w/ the community & government relations as well as local, private, & public agencies to assess community education needs, develops priorities, & defines strategic community partnerships
• Ensures all intervention/programs comply w/ regulatory agencies
• Researches, identifies, & implements best practices
• Provides service-wide consultation & support for health education services both internal & external to the department
• Specializes in a broad area of health education (e.g., HIV, nutrition, behavioral health, chronic disease, health promotion), as required
• This position reports to the Manager or Director of Health Education Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
• Previous experience (3+ years) in design and coordination of health education services
• Previous supervisory or management experience required (2 years)
• Previous experience with budget management
• Experience in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and education training
• At least one years experience supervising staff at multi-sites preferred
• Master's degree or equivalent experience in Public Health, Health Care Services, or Behavioral Sciences required
• Master's degree in Public Health preferred
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of PC applications required
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
