The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the successful execution of marketing strategies with the ultimate goal of driving sales and EBIT goals. This position serves as a partner/liaison between the merchant/planners and advertising to collaborate in executing accurate and timely presentations, to move on results/analysis and to drive the overall advertising process supporting the daily needs of the business. In addition, the Assistant Manager has a specific Family of Business in which accountability for relevant national and local campaigns are fully supported. This is a developmental position that ultimately leads to a Manager Merchandise Marketing position.
Execute cohesive marketing strategies that support Sales & EBIT goals
Maintain all production and financial components into the MAS (Macy’s Advertising System) system for a specific family of business
Prepare for and participate in concept, pre-style out and style out meetings and be responsible for meeting key project deadlines (style outs, turn ins, etc). Point person for all materials necessary for turn-ins and presentations.
Recap, analyze and communicate overall marketing results with various marketing groups to help identify business opportunities
Work collaboratively with Marketing, Media, Creative and Production partners
Ensure seamless coordination across various marketing groups including Traffic, Production, Creative and Media teams
Work with Merchandising and Planning partners to align marketing and merchandising priorities and ensure that the customer is the number one priority
Recap internal business results and work with supervisor to identify business opportunities.
Focus on special projects to drive desired results
Maintain knowledge and updates to key materials that inform the FOB on your family of business (i.e. sales, trend, competition, vendor launches/initiatives, media trends, social updates and technology). Track what the competition is doing and offer recommendations for future business opportunities.
Execute opportunities to customize marketing (e.g., DM, Insert and ROP) for markets and customer segments within your family of business
1- 2 years prior retail marketing, buying or planning experience (preferred)
4-year degree, preferably in one of the following areas: Marketing, Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Possess strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
Able to build partnerships and teams across functional units
Ability to interact with all levels in the organization
Problem solver with reasoning skills and ability to identify opportunities through analysis
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with detail
Demonstrate initiative, curiosity and a positive attitude
