The Department of Communication Studies invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the Public Relations program. Rank dependent upon degree and experience. Responsibilities include a 3/3 teaching load (9 credit hours per semester) of classes in the Public Relations curriculum. Opportunities exist to teach undergraduate classes in area of specialty, teach graduate courses, direct M.A. thesis/research projects, and to mentor students in co-curricular activities. All members of the faculty are expected to participate in curriculum development, as well as department and university governance. In addition, each faculty member is expected to pursue individual scholarly/creative activity and professional service. An earned doctorate in Public Relations, Communication Studies, or a related field is required. ABDs in Public Relations, Communication Studies, or related field with evidence of degree completion by August 2013 will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
College teaching experience, demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidence of a record of continuing or promising scholarly/creative activity, and a demonstrated commitment to professional development required.
Professional public relations experience; teaching experience in public relations or related courses; and experience in working with student groups is preferred.
