The Department of Library Public Services, Western Kentucky University (WKU), seeks applicants for the tenure-eligible position of Assistant Professor at its Glasgow Regional Campus. This is a continuing ten-month faculty position, to begin July 1, 2013. Located in Glasgow, a town of approximately 15,000 located 35 miles east of the main WKU campus in Bowling Green, WKU-Glasgow serves approximately 2,500 students from the south-central region of Kentucky.
Primary responsibilities include: In Glasgow: supervision of the campus library, including oversight of collections, library services, research instruction, and personnel (staff and student assistants); community outreach and engagement with local constituents; participation in campus affairs; and collaboration with the Extended Campus Librarian. As part of Library Public Services: professional service including committee involvement at the departmental, university and national levels; research and publishing; and possible additional duties such as subject-related collection development and liaison assignments. Occasional travel to the main campus will be required.
Required qualifications: Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program; second subject-related Master’s degree; prior professional library experience, including in reference desk service and research instruction.
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
