Position

The Gordon Ford College of Business at Western Kentucky University seeks a talented, self-motivated individual to serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems. This position is a nine-month, tenure track appointment beginning fall, 2013.

Position Description

The successful candidate will be actively involved in teaching, research, and service and will be part of a very active and collegial faculty team. The department currently provides three degree programs: Business Informatics, Computer Information Technology, and Systems Management. We also offer a minor in CIS and offer information systems service courses (undergraduate and graduate) for the business college. The primary teaching duties for this candidate will be teaching in the Business Informatics program as well as supporting our service functions.

The needs of this position require that the candidate has demonstrable technical/computing expertise, relevant work experience, and experience teaching in the areas or Business Intelligence, Data Analytics and/or Data Warehousing. As the department is a leader in distance education, outreach programs (via instructional television), and online class delivery the candidate should also have demonstrated experience in these pedagogical approaches.

In addition to teaching, the successful individual is expected to be active in research, IS program and course development, university service, and student mentoring. We seek candidates interested in working in a collaborative environment to educate our students to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse, multicultural, technology-driven society.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Ph.D. or DBA in Information Systems or a closely related (computing) field at time of appointment
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent U.S. residency
  • Regular scholarly publishing
  • Demonstrated teaching experience – including online, ITV and/or other distance modalities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Collegiality and demonstrated teamwork ability
Rank and Salary

This position is at the rank of Assistant Professor. The salary is commensurate with education and academic experience.

Bowling Green is a vibrant community of approx. 60,000 and is a commercial, health, and educational hub for the region. WKU is conveniently located just 50 miles from the metro Nashville, TN area.
