Research Positions in Digital Signal Processing and FPGA Systems.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University has open research associate positions for a project sponsored by National Park Service, which involves monitoring and managing acoustical environments in local, state, federal designated protected areas. Further improvements in the existing monitoring equipment are sought that reduce the need for periodic inspections of the monitoring equipment and provide regular summaries of acoustical conditions at the monitoring sites. Additionally, improved data collection capacity has amplified the need for more efficient and automated data processing. Thus, new hardware and algorithms are currently being designed and developed to address all the shortcomings of the existing systems and provide automated data processing abilities.

The goal of this particular research position is to implement, modify, program and test all developed algorithms for detection, separation, tracking, and classification of various acoustic sources using the designed FPGA-based low-cost, low-power wireless nodes.

Requirements: Applicants must hold a M.Sc degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering disciplines.

Required Experience: FPGA systems and programming, Digital Signal Processing
