Applicants are invited to apply for a twelve-month, tenure-track position in the Department of Physical Therapy with an anticipated start date summer or fall semester 2013. Eight faculty are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join an accredited program which recently underwent a successful Self-Study and CAPTE site visit. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, University-College-PT program service opportunities and an active pursuit of a research agenda. The department provides an environment that supports and fosters the development of productive and successful faculty members.

Candidates who have an interest in developing inter-professional clinical or a basic science research focus can be involved with faculty from the Quillen College of Medicine, the Gatton College of Pharmacy, the Veterans Affairs hospital as well as with faculty in the other colleges in the ETSU Academic Health Sciences Center which includes the colleges of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences, Public Health and Nursing. Research collaboration with departments outside of Health Sciences are also encouraged. Interprofessional clinical practice, training and research opportunities are available in our new Johnson City Community Health Center.

East Tennessee State University is located in Johnson City, Tennessee close to the Virginia and North Carolina borders between the Great Smokey Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. This region is a recreational haven offering camping, fishing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, hiking and snow skiing. The surrounding area offers many cultural/social events such as community festivals and fairs and is located in the heart of the Appalachian Trail in Tennessee. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. Candidates with a clinical interest and/or background in neurological rehabilitation across the lifespan, prosthetics/orthotics, pediatrics or soft tissue management are encouraged to apply. Other areas of specialty will be considered. Candidates must be eligible for Physical Therapy licensure in Tennessee.
