The position is for a part-time clinical only faculty position; teaching in an advanced medical/surgical nursing course that includes critical care nursing. The position is a 10 month faculty position that includes a letter of agreement for each academic year; August through May.

The Assistant Professor of the College of Health Sciences has the potential to assume a leadership or coordinating role in the program of which they are teaching; demonstrates teaching excellence; participates in recognized activities of scholarship; participates in activities for community betterment; and is a member of a professional organization.

The Assistant Professor demonstrates implementation of the mission, vision, goals and values of the College as well as the philosophy of the division in which he/she is assigned. The Assistant Professor assumes role in systematic evaluation of the program/college and accreditation activities.

The Assistant Professor is responsible for development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the theoretical and clinical/lab components of assigned courses.

Minimum Qualifications :

Nursing Program: Minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing and licensure as a registered nurse in Nebraska or compact state required. Minimum of three (3) years experience in field of practice required. Minimum of one (1) year of teaching in higher education academic setting required.

The position is exempt, however the individual is expected to work 32 hours per week which includes the following; making assignments, two days of clinical, completing student evaluations, and attending course, program and College meetings as well as committee meetings. A Masters in Nursing is required. Experience in critical care nursing is required. Previous teaching experience is preferred. This individual will need to begin work on a Doctorate within the first year of employment.

There are no on-call or weekend hours for clinical, however it is expected ths individual will attend Open Houses, recruitment activities, graduations, and pinning and pledging ceremonies if they occur on weekends.
