DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: (Some of the duties are as follows)
The Assistant Program Manager ensures all daily living needs and essential treatment services are provided at a Limited Secure Placement (LSP) Program, a 20 bed limited-secure program for adjudicated youth. This involves creating and supporting a physically and emotionally safe environment for residents and staff as well as utilizing a teaching component in all program components and interactions. Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff members of the treatment teams; and assists in training and career development activities.
- Assist Program Director in the managerial and administrative duties of the program.
- Provides and monitors individual and group counseling services.
- Assumes responsibility, together with staff, for safety, personal conduct, care, and therapy of the youth in a group.
- Communicates with court and community-based staff regarding each youths progress, placement plans, and family issues; prepares reports regarding youths progress, adjustments, and related matters.
- Assesses youths needs and helps develop with LSP team individual treatment, education, and aftercare plans.
- Interacts critically and constructively with staff members to develop and implement successful treatment techniques.
- Keeps staff informed of significant behavioral conditions known about an individual and/or the group.
- Maintains security in building, grounds, and other posts; intervenes during emergencies or altercations to prevent escapes and gains physical control of youth (twenty-four  hours a day).
- Coordinates community relations projects and other outreach activities.
- Assists in the oversight of all LSP programming, and evaluates the application of youths skills in scheduled activities.
- Exercises considerable judgment, discretion, and initiative in the performance of duties within the established policies and procedures.
- Weekend and evening shifts
- Performs other related work as assigned.
- A Bachelors degree in a Human Services related field.
- One or more years of work experience in a residential treatment program which involved casework, group counseling, juvenile rehabilitation, probation and parole, and/or social work for youth; or
- Two or more years of experience in group work which involved direct care and interaction with youth such as YMCA, schools, recreational facilities, or residential care programs;
- Ability to transport youth and travel.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime; and the ability to respond to crises situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, community groups, the courts, other agencies, and the general public.
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suit
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus
- Possession of a valid vehicle operators license and clean driving record.
