ASSISTANT PROJECT GEOLOGIST / ENGINEER / SCIENTIST

Summary :
Independently plan and perform environmental field work involving collection of environmental data from site investigations and oversight of construction activities during site remediation. Develop, implement, and maintain procedures and programs to minimize environmental risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing concise, well-written proposal elements (i.e., project descriptions, resumes, etc.)

Work with a program or project manager to monitor scope, schedule, and budget.

Independently plan, prepare, and perform fieldwork assignments.

Implement field assignments in accordance with health and safety and quality control requirements.

Ensure that internal deadlines are established and met.

Ensure that given budget for field and office assignments are met.

Prepare scopes of work and oversee subcontractors.

Assist in developing plans and specifications.

Assist in selection of appropriate engineering solutions and technology.

Obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors.

Report to project manager on project status.

Set up projects in JETS.

Take lead in preparing basic documents.

Maintain professional and capable image, while interacting with clients in the field.

Assist in performing projects involving collection and interpretation of data.

Assist in researching information and preparing reports on findings.

Assist in determining the potential impact of federal, state and local regulations related to projects.

Communicate effectively with others, asking the right questions to clarify expectations and promote learning

Manage multiple tasks with changing priorities.

Accept responsibility for meeting standards of quality required by ERRG.

Take ownership of assignments, communicate status, and see them through completion.

Adhere to project-specific and corporate-wide safety policies.

Thorough and accurate when reviewing and checking own work.

Execute field activities, and record and maintain adequate documentation for closure.

Able to forecast personal utilization and notify group leader and project manager of availability.

Maintain project documents on-site and ensures submittals to the client are assembled and delivered on time.

Write project work plans, health and safety plans, traffic control plans, erosion control plans, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a 4-year college or university.

2 years of related work experience.

Proficient in MS Word Office Suite Products.

40-hour HAZWOPER training and/or 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher completed prior to starting work.

Ability to write project work plans, health and safety plans, traffic control plans, erosion control plans, etc.

Ability to understand project requirements based on interpretation of project plans and specifications.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to effectively interact with clients, regulatory agencies, field operations, technical staff, and subcontractors .

Ability to travel up to 25% to 50% of the time to project sites, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.

2-5 years of related work experience.

Experience using Environmental instruments such as PDR-1000, PID, or LEL.
