This position will be directly responsible for front of the house operations and, indirectly responsible for maintaining the back of the house operations with all set standards and specifications. Assistant Restaurant Manager will be accountable for meeting or exceeding all State of Pennsylvania and Carlson sanitation requirements (ServSafe). This role will ensure that all areas are kept clean, safe and in proper condition; as well as will accept responsibility of the overall outlet budget, profit and loss statements, cost analysis, labor analysis, planning and promotions with the Restaurant Chef. This position will ensure regulatory, policy and procedure, and internal controls are all within compliance. Also ensure consistent high quality service standards are maintained in areas of responsibility. Management accountability for all Tavern 17 team members for day-to-day and long term operations to include hiring, training, developing employees. Developing includes coaching mentoring and appropriate performance management up to and including separation. Responsible for scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business demands, ensure customer satisfaction and comply with collective bargaining agreement (union). Responsible for ensuring optimal operations during all business hours. Implements training programs that ensure high quality service, wine knowledge, quality coffee operations, and all phases of food & beverage service and operations. Must act as role model to other employees and always present oneself as a credit to Carlson Companies Tavern 17 and encourage others to do the same.

College degree preferred. Experience with opening new restaurant is a plus. 5 years of proven successful track record at established restaurant preferably in Center City Philadelphia location. Knowledge for all phases of food administration, cost control and familiarity of all food services is required. Knowledge of food costs and labor analysis, and ability to understand and analyze Budget and P&L statements. Proven managerial and critical thinking skills are required, as well as the ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding working environment. Excellent customer service and employee relation skills are a must. Good oral and written skills and the ability to respond calmly and make a rational decision when required.
