Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

This tenured track appointment will begin Fall 2013. In addition to teaching duties, faculty will be expected to network with HIM directors, and review and revise courses and program curriculum. Participate in college, department and professional activities such as curriculum development, grant writing, assessment, faculty development, and mentoring student projects. Productive scholarship expected. Evening/weekend schedule may be required.



Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Master's degree in HIM or a related field such as public health, information technology, health management or administration, or health informatics required. Active RHIT or RHIA certification, a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, preferably in HIM or related fields and a minimum of five (5) years work experience in HIM, preferably with supervisory experience, required. Knowledge of current transitions in the field and impact on education and commitment and ability to incorporate technology in teaching required. Familiarity with accreditation requirements, ability to network with health related facilities that will enhance the resources and opportunities of the program and understanding of challenges impacting community college students are assets.

SALARY: Assistant Professor: $42,873 - $74,133
Associate Professor: $55,602 - $88,418
Professor: $68,803 - $106,071
