Department Description: The Shared Services group is responsible for the overall accounting and monthly close process for WMG.

High Level Job Description: The Senior Manager/Associate Director of Accounting for Distribution (WEA/ADA/ILG) is responsible for assisting the Senior Director with the monthly close process and all aspects of the Distribution accounting for WMG.

Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
  • Manage the monthly close processes for Distribution including financial statement preparation and analyses, general ledger maintenance, journal entry and reconciliation review, etc.
  • Oversee two to three Accountants/Senior Accountants to review for accuracy in reporting to Corporate and review of related schedules submitted to Distribution Finance in conjunction with the monthly/quarterly financials
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, including drafting and updating process narratives, and maintenance of requirement documentation.
  • Work with the staff to prepare supplemental and supporting schedules related to the external audit/review of the financial statements
  • Maintain strong relationships with distribution finance personnel, Corporate, A/R, IT and Internal/External Audit as well as other divisions and affiliates
  • Provide any ad hoc analysis/projects required
  • Manage 2-3 staff and senior accountants.

Required Competencies/Skills:
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills needed in interacting with label finance, Corporate finance and other internal/external parties.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work under pressure/tight deadlines.
  • Excellent Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, HFM, SAP and Access database a plus.
Special Requirements/Preferences: 6
  • + years of accounting/finance experience
  • Big 4 CPA firm experience preferred
  • Experience in private industry a plus
  • Knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements required.
  • Supervisory experience required.
Education Required/Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA Required or in progress
