The successful candidate will be responsible for developing formulations for insulin type of molecules and other therapeutic proteins in support of programs at various stages of development. Primary duties to support both early and late stage development candidates will include screening and developing formulations, clinical manufacturing process, technology transfer to pilot plants and regulatory filing. The candidate will provide oversight to use innovative approaches to design robust formulations, high throughput screening and manufacturing processes suitable for sterile dosage forms. Active management and coaching of scientists, participation on formulation development teams and interfacing with cross-functional areas to drive project milestones will be required. The candidate should have strong communication skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, publication track record and a strong desire to learn, contribute and collaborate. Protein formulation development, biophysical characterization, scale-up and regulatory filing experience is required. The candidate will provide technical/scientific leadership within department and serves as a department representative on cross-functional teams and professional affiliations. Prior experience in leading a group and technical teams is essential.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:
  • M.S with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Experience with protein formulation development.
  • Formulation and biophysical analysis of insulins, design of experiments, clinical process development of drug product, project management, regulatory document preparation and filing.
Desired Experience and Skills:
  • Preformulation of proteins, formulation of antibody-drug conjugates, drug delivery, bioassay.
  • Experience with protein/peptide crystallization.
  • Experience with Waters and Agilent HPLC instruments, Empower and ChemStation.
  • Working knowledge of biophysical techniques (e.g., UV, DLS, DSC, Fluorescence, viscosity, particle sizing)
