Exponent’s Vehicle Engineering Practice provides a wide range of vehicle evaluation and testing services. We have worked with automobiles, buses, trucks, vans, bicycles, trailers, motorcycles, trains, forklifts, tractors, cranes, mining and construction equipment, ATVs, golf carts, and more. Component testing and evaluation

Occupant kinematics and injury analysis
Human performance assessment The Vehicle Engineering Practice is currently looking to hire an Associate/Engineer in our Phoenix office with an interest in accident reconstruction and vehicle simulation. The individual in this position will be responsible for consulting with clients on a wide variety of automotive design and safety issues.

Responsibilities for this position include:
Performing computer simulations in the HVE environment for vehicle handling and accident reconstruction
Photogrammetric analysis using Photo Modeler
Conducting vehicle crashworthiness tests
Analyzing vehicle handling and stability
Conducting full-scale tests, field investigations, automotive accident reconstructions, and vehicle inspections
Performing general mechanical engineering and failure analysis
Performing project management, including revenue generation as well as developing and maintaining client relations
Performing accident reconstruction and analysis
Preparing written reports, case summaries and proposals Qualifications for this position include:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or a M.S. and 4 years of experience) and an applied knowledge of automotive systems
Experience with simulation programs and field investigation tools such as HVE, EDSMAC, EDCRASH, Photo Modeler, Total Station, and Vulcan
Knowledge of automotive restraint systems and automobile crashworthiness design
Must have knowledge of dynamics, mechanical design and 3D CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Rhino3D preferred)
Background in accident reconstruction, vehicle dynamics simulation, and vehicle handling is a plus
Dedication to quality and accuracy and the ability to support multiple group projects
Must also possess strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical information and present it to specialists and non-specialists alike
P.E. license or the willingness to obtain a P.E. license
