HR Associate should spend at least 1/3 of their time working as an actual Recruiter for specific job openings. Work directly with department managers to understand their business needs and develop strategies to source candidates. Interview internal and external candidates to determine qualification and fit. Document all appropriate activity in the company’s Applicant Tracking System.
Coordinate efforts and monitor performance of outside staffing services, if applicable.
Request and review background checks on new employees.
Attend various recruitment functions (i.e. - open houses, college recruitment, job fairs)
Conduct exit interviews as deemed appropriate by their Director, Manager or designated Supervisor.
Accompany Director, Manager or designated Supervisor on field visits in order to build relationships with managers and non-management employees in the businesses that they support.
Perform employee relations duties such as employee counseling and conflict resolution.
Assist the Director, Manager or designated Supervisor with fact-finding, investigation and employee issues/concerns, which includes interviewing employees at all levels during investigation and reporting on findings. Prepares for and attends Unemployment hearings.
Assist in preparing Issue Summaries to Corporate HR and Legal to review and file.
Assist Supervisors/Managers to draw up corrective action documents under the direct supervision of the Director, Manager or designated Supervisor.
Prepare weekly and monthly corrective action reports for the respective area of coverage.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding job opportunities, benefits, training, payroll, leave of absence requirements, worker’s compensation, etc.
Oversee and advise employees on more complex policy issues including Leaves of Absence, Disability, etc.
Participate/conduct employee meetings where appropriate (such as new employee orientation, annual benefit enrollment meetings, program and policy dissemination meetings, etc).
Strategize and coordinate local employee activities and events such as employee recognition programs.
Assist in the training of HR Coordinator/Administrator(s) and on occasion, perform general administrative duties by providing back up to HR Coordinator/Administrator(s).
Responsible for ensuring all paperwork (i.e. - PAFs, Reqs, Reviews, LOA paperwork, etc.) that impacts employees are entered into the employee/applicant tracking and management systems properly with all signatures and required documentation attached. Audits PAF entries.
Actively manage the annual performance evaluation process including the generation of paperwork and following-up directly with department heads on overdue evaluations.
Perform PeopleSoft queries/reports in order to produce and analyze attrition, absenteeism, headcount and demographic information. Make recommendations when appropriate.
Interact with other departments within HR (Benefits, Payroll, Compensation, HRMS, etc.) in order to develop HR generalist skills.
Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate Degree or equivalent experience.
2 + years in a professional Human Resources position and/or 2+ years experience in the HR Administrator position.
Must have ability to effectively source and recruit candidates below grade 25.
Solid background and understanding of Human Resources software applications (i.e. PeopleSoft, BrassRing, Oracle, etc.). Must be proficient in office software use including MS Office, with a thorough knowledge of e-mail, internet, and database use.
Must have the ability to handle various employee issues in a confidential and sensitive manner.
Excellent administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical skills and must be attentive to detail.
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while managing multiple tasks.
Must be willing and have the means to travel to multiple locations.
Must be able to work flexible and additional hours as necessary.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to act as liaison or mediator between management and non-management level employees.
