The Associate Director for Strategic Marketing for the office of Government Relations and Public Affairs will play a lead role in developing and overseeing marketing campaigns focused on promoting the university’s strategic and master plans to both the campus community and externally. The Associate Director will also: take a lead role in developing a multifaceted promotional campaign for the university’s 50th anniversary celebration; create university marketing and advertising campaigns across various media, including print, web, radio, and television; will participate and have input in both the execution of the division’s overall communications planning, branding, and messaging programs; develop concepts, write copy, recommend visual components, and work with communications, design, and editorial staff on messaging and production of campaign collateral; review existing promotional efforts for major university events, recommend improvements and oversee future efforts; collaborate with Enrollment Management, University College, and other colleges and administrative divisions to ensure consistent messaging and brand promotion; work with vendors in securing placement of various promotional campaign advertisements, sponsorships, etc.; acquire a deep understanding of the university’s history, context and strategic and master plans that informs appropriate marketing efforts; participate in meetings to provide guidance and direction around these efforts; serve as a collaborator to select colleges and/or administrative divisions, coordinating the university’s overall marketing efforts with their stated goals; initiate, update and maintain web-based and social media presence for the university’s promotional activities; engage with the Office of Communications, Office of Creative Services and University Editor in a collaborative e working environment; and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a closely related field and five-seven years of professional experience in marketing and communications is required. Superior writing and editing skills are required. Social media and web communications experience is preferred. Proven record of working collaboratively, multi-tasking and successfully meeting deadlines. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
