Associate Engineer-Engineering Rotational Development Program
Building Construction Product's Engineering Rotational Development (ERD) Program provides the foundation for future success of product development engineers. The program offers a broad exposure to Building Construction Products (BCP) presents diverse responsibilities and experiences and includes valuable networking opportunities with all levels of BCP leadership.
As an Associate Engineer (Engineering Rotational Development Program), you will have the opportunity to learn from and contribute to a cooperative team in the design of new global products and processes. In this entry-level engineering position, you will build your technical expertise while learning product development through practical application and staying abreast of innovative technology. You will also build your professional network, engage with peers and receive guidance from mentors in the field.
The ERD track is a 12-18 month rotational program designed to expose entry-level design engineers to different functional areas within BCP. During the program, engineers will spend 3-6 months in various rotations with the rotations spanning areas of design, test, manufacturing, supply management and marketing.
ERDs are hired for a specific design position within BCP. They begin their employment with their team and return to that position at the end of the program.
Key areas or responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: evaluate new products, processes or systems; communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units; contribute to the design of new products and processes; perform product and process maintenance, support other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers.
Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* In this role, you will also deepen your knowledge base of Caterpillar’s products, technologies, processes, services and systems, which you will use to:
* Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas;
* Evaluate new products, processes, or systems;
* Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units;
* Contribute to the design of new products and processes; and
* Perform product and process maintenance.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree to be completed by May 2014.
Related degrees include Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, or other relevant discipline.
Minimum GPA 2.8 out of a 4.0 scale.
This position is for recent college graduates with less than 18 months of Engineering experience.
Master's or Ph.D. degree from an accredited school.
Prior experience in an engineering function (i.e. internship/co-op) along with experience using Pro Engineer/Pro NC (Pro Manufacture).
