Ashford University is looking for faculty to teach undergraduate political science courses. As an online institution with a program focused on Political Science, candidates with online experience and/or strong background in American government, politics and political behavior are preferred. Candidates who have demonstrated experience and expertise in any other sub-discipline of political science will also be considered.

Essential Job Duties:
• Posting faculty guidance and expectations
• Participating in classroom discussion boards
• Grading assignments and responding to student inquiries
• Providing timely feedback to students’ questions and concerns
• Place a strong emphasis on student-centered learning
• Collaborates with other University departments to ensure a positive overall experience for all University students.
Additional Job Duties (include but are not limited to):
• Attend appropriate faculty forums and faculty meetings
• Participate in faculty development and scholarship activities

Minimum Requirements:
• Required: Masters Degree in Political Science, American Studies, J.D. or
• Related Masters Degree with 9 graduate units in Political Science
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience teaching Political Science in a non-traditional setting
• Masters Degree in History, Political Science, Education with a History Credential, or related Masters Degree with 6 graduate units in American History.

The employee will be required to make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations, grasp and apply new ideas, communicate with various personalities at all levels and have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an office environment, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud .
