The investigator will be in a position of trust, a role that requires integrity, confidentiality, intensity, commitment and pride in our country’s security matters. The main responsibility of the Investigator is to collect the requested information relevant to background investigations pertinent to the contract assignment. The ultimate goal is customer satisfaction achieved through timeliness, meeting or exceeding customer and internal standards, and effective in identifying relevant issues.
Results / Outcomes
Organize and schedule the work to meet deliverable customer/contract requirements and metrics.
Conduct security and pre-employment background investigations to determine the suitability and qualifications of individuals based on contract requirements.
Interview subjects to gather leads and to clarify discrepant information.
Conduct face to face interviews based on leads developed to determine the accuracy of information.
Conduct record checks at law enforcement agencies and courts.
Confirm education and military service information.
Communicate with the Operations Center, District Managers, Team Leaders, and Team members.
Daily report writing / transmit reports.
Daily travel and “out of area” travel 2-5 weeks as assigned. Travel is approximately 75% of the time on a regular basis via company car.
Work non-traditional hours to ensure company and regional goals are met.
Complete daily reporting writing/transmit reports.
Maintain and secure government and/or USIS issued credentials.
Compliance and maintain current with all policy and procedures.
Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Deliverables / Achievements
Assigned cases completed prior to completion date.
Ability to properly zone the workload assigned.
Degree of support given to the Team Leader, team members, district office.
Meeting or exceeding performance requirements based on the metrics developed for the Investigator position.
Ability to efficiently use the computer programs necessary for the position.
Frequency of deficiencies.
Frequency of finding issues as developed through testimonies.
Number of testimonies per day/months of coverage.
Frequency of more complex cases.
Ability to maintain professionalism in completing all aspects of the job.
Successful completion of New Investigator Training.
Candidate needs to reside within 20 miles of San Angelo, TX at the time of hire.

– Minimum of a BS/BA degree from an accredited university or combination of coursework and work experience equivalent to a college degree as defined by the contract.
- Prior background investigation experience preferred but not necessary as training can be provided based on the contract requirements.
- Applying the Investigator’s Handbook to the full range of background investigations. Assessing written and oral information for potential issues and appropriate follow-up questions. Identifying coverage needs. Assigning issue codes to specific cases. Accessing police, financial, and medical records. Conducting other types of investigations as needed. Using company investigative software efficiently.
– Excellent communication skills oral and written in order to conduct investigative interviews and write clear and concise reports. Excellent interpersonal skills used to persuade sources to participate in investigative interviews, establish rapport during the interviews in order to obtain complete and accurate information. Strong computer and typing skills are necessary to compose and key data, ability to learn new computer programs exclusive to this position. Excellent time management and organizational skills in order to plan and organize multiple assignments for speed and efficiency and adjust work schedules to meet deliverables.
Strong work ethic and self motivated individual. Able to work independently.
Ability to properly zone the workload. Ability to access problems and make decisions. Physical requirements of the job: must be ambulatory, able to meet contacts at their home, place of business or remote location at times convenient to the contact. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must possess use of all sensory organs to conduct interview. Must be able to meet the requirements necessary for operating a company vehicle.
