Priority Health seeks to add a dynamic Associate Medical Director who is motivated to develop and drive innovative strategies that focus on improving health and managing costs for our commercial lines of business. He or she will be responsible for the successful development and implementation of internal utilization management programs and partner with our network of physicians and hospitals. This position is also responsible for improving clinical efficiencies and outcomes using evidenced based care.
This critical position is expected to ensure that Priority Health leads the industry in innovative health management strategies and is considered the health plan of choice throughout the service area. The individual will be a physician leader with a proven track record of innovation, achievement of measure goals, and exceptional clinical competence. He/she will take a proactive approach to the marketplace and be responsible for continuously reshaping Priority Health’s medical and clinical strategies corporate-wide. This role will be responsible for achieving goals (access, satisfaction, and clinical and financial performance) and will effectively develop and maintain internal and external relationships required for Priority Health to achieve its strategic vision.
The ideal candidate will be an individual who can drive dynamic discussions, challenge paradigms, and deliver required clinical and financial performance. The goal is to provide medical and clinical solutions that contribute to meeting the Triple Aim goals of improved outcomes, improved patient experience, and reduced costs.
Strong communication skills are essential, as the person must work proactively across all major internal functional areas (finance, network, quality and health management) and with external constituencies (physicians, hospitals and other ancillary providers).
•Graduate from a medical school approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association.
•Masters in Medical Management (MMM), Hospital Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent is preferred.
•Unrestricted, current licensure to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
•Board certification in a medical or surgical specialty and possess a minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience.
•A minimum of three (3) years of managed care experience is highly desirable, but not required.
•Must document his or her expertise and evidence of success in these areas:
o Effective physician communication and education skills
o Evaluation of evidence-based standards of care including the ability to critically analyze data
o Clinical program development and assessment
•Superb oral and written communication skills to both internal and external audiences. Ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as the ability to understand and interpret complex information from others.
•Strong interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others.
•Financial knowledge sufficient to make effective use of common financial tools such as financial statements.
