Job Summary and Essential Functions
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state. The NYISO’s Grid Operations department invites applications for a full-time Associate Operator/Interchange Scheduler.
The Associate Operator/Interchange Scheduler, under the general supervision of the Shift Supervisor / Chief System Operator, runs the software programs for the NYCA Control Area hourly schedule check out and analyzes the results; is directly responsible for coordinating the schedules in the NYCA with neighboring Control Areas and schedules the bulk power system in accordance with NERC, NPCC and NYSRC criteria.
An A.A. S. degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent desired; up to five years, of progressively more responsible experience in power system operations of the NYS Bulk Power System including experience in power system operations, power dispatching, load scheduling and station operation or equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred. Technical education will provide the equivalent for number of years of experience. Thorough and demonstrated understanding of the concepts of electrical system operations required.
