The Cardiovascular Diseases Franchise within Discovery and Preclinical Sciences is seeking an experienced cardiometabolic biologist to join the Atherosclerosis department. This is a senior laboratory scientist role with responsibility for designing and executing mechanistic studies to support the nomination, validation and molecule discovery for targets involved in the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis. Relevant areas of training include one or more of the following: cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology as it relates to atherosclerosis; obesity/diabetes as it related to insulin resistance and the connection to the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. Experience in bridging the gap between evidence of human disease relevance and experimental disease models is a key skill set for this role.
Education: PhD in physiology, pharmacology or related discipline (biochemistry, molecular biology, pathology, etc)
- PhD with minimum 3 years postdoctoral experience, 0-5+ years experience in pharmaceutical industry .
- Graduate and/or post-doctoral training in atherosclerosis including one or more of the following: cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology as it relates to atherosclerosis, lipid biology, diabetes/obesity as it relates to insulin resistance
- In addition to required experience/skills, preference will be given to candidates with experience in building translational animal models with relevance/applicability to the clinic.
