The Department of Counseling and School Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks a tenure-track advanced associate professor in Counseling Psychology beginning September 1, 2013. Applicants will contribute to a doctoral program in Counseling and School Psychology that has two separate tracks, Counseling and School Psychology. This position is for the specialization in Counseling Psychology, which has been designed to meet the requirements to attain accreditation at the doctoral level by the American Psychological Association (APA) Commission on Accreditation. The candidate may also be asked to contribute to the master’s level programs in the department. The candidate would be joining a program whose mission is to prepare scientist-practitioners to conduct research and practice with culturally diverse communities using a social justice framework. We also encourage candidates whose research has an international focus and/or a research agenda that creates community partnerships consistent with our urban mission.

Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program, eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts, and a solid and substantial record of scholarship and teaching experience. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have experience securing extramural grant funding. Research area is open although candidates with research interests that align with Counseling Psychology are desired. Responsibilities include teaching courses in counseling psychology (potential courses include assessment, career and vocational counseling, doctoral practicum, or research and statistics), supervise doctoral dissertations, and provide service to the program in terms of practicum coordination, program development or other tasks. The successful candidate will be able to provide leadership in the doctoral program and to participate in service to department, college and the university.
