Connect with us at Job Description The Inside Systems Engineer is responsible for working with VMware sales teams and our partner ecosystem to help accelerate the closing of transactional business and high priority accounts by presenting solutions to customers through webinars and conference calls and by responding to technical qualifying questions through various forums. ISEs assist with customer product evaluations and solution proof-of-concepts in addition to managing technical support escalations as required.

Travel is minimal for this position as it is primarily an inside role. Estimate approximately 15% travel to attend regional quarterly business reviews, field engagements and/or local event support.

  • Deliver demand generation and enablement events through webinars and conference calls
  • Provide pre-sales technical support to Inside Sales teams, partners and ultimately customers
  • Develop and deliver responses to customer and prospect technical inquiries, including RFPs, RFIs, and initial architecture discussions
  • Provide evaluations and proof-of-concept assistance to partners and customers
  • Develop product and solution demonstrations and support corporate demo infrastructures
  • Present VMware vision, strategy and product roadmaps to executives and technical management
  • Evangelize VMware solutions at marketing and enablement events
  • Participate in SE discussion forums
  • Assist with the training of new hire systems engineers and other sales staff
  • Document customer feature requests and issues
  • Assist product development in testing new products
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining a virtual infrastructure in a production environment and/or 3+ years of experience in a systems engineering, technical marketing and/or product management role in the technology sector. Heavy experience with VMware products is highly desired
  • Candidates should be self-starters with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must possess exceptional organizational and planning skills and have the innate ability to multitask
  • Experience troubleshooting system level problems including server failure, OS tuning, and networking problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong IT infrastructure technical skills including x86 Server platforms, Windows Server and Linux operating system expertise, SAN / NAS storage technologies and TCP/IP networking
  • Experience with enterprise applications, systems management, high-availability and/or backup solutions
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience
  • Scripting ability, in Perl or Visual Basic, is desirable
