Primary Job Description The primary function of the Scientist is to conduct solid product development utilizing multiple techniques and knowledge of various cross functional disciplines in order to formulate a matrix resulting in a commercial scale manufacture-able product that meets designed specifications. This position also requires support to commercial line manufacturing and trouble shooting for formulation/process challenges specific to product production. Core Job Responsibilities The core function for a Scientist is to design/executing of experiments, and then reporting the results. The responsibilities in the experiments will include; develop the experimental design, procurement of ingredients, obtain ingredient documentation, review ingredient specifications, adjusting batch formulations to meet expected label outcomes, weighing ingredients, mixing the product at the bench, making critical observations during the experiment, documenting these observations and communicating results. Conceives product scale-up and advanced implementation development strategy to manufacture the product for assigned plant. This individual will also prepare documentation for scale up to a pilot/commercial scale and support these production runs. This individual will contribute to product and process design, project planning, definition of critical success criteria and manufacturing procedures. Analyzes and interprets results and authors commercial recommendation reports. This individual needs to be self motivating and direct their own daily activities utilizing multiple experimental techniques and procedures. This individual will be asked to be innovative during the development stage of a project. Any type of cooking/culinary experience or creative activities will be beneficial. Qualifications Qualifications BS in Food Science/Nutrition or related field with and a minimum of 5 years of practical experience preferred. MS, Food Science / Nutrition / Engineering or in related scientific field with 1-2 years practical experience in related nutritional field. Greater than 10 years of R&D/Manufacturing practical experience in the Nutrition industry will be considered. This individual needs to effectively communicate technical development results to cross functional teams while keeping leadership informed of latest project updates. This individual needs to have a positive attitude and work well within teams. He/She will need to apply basic computer skills, word processing, spreadsheets, formulation databases and other applicable systems. Significant Work Activities and Conditions Job location Fairfield California Operating and cleaning bench top/pilot plant equipment which will require occasionally lifting up to 50lb bags and being on their feet 80% of the day. This individual will have responsibility in keeping a laboratory in a clean and safe state. Travel 10% of the time. Significant Work Activities and Conditions
