The Drug Delivery Department has an opening for an Associate
Scientist. The successful candidate will participate in the research,
development and commercialization of new delivery technologies for several of
Genentech's therapeutic antibodies. Major responsibilities will include
conducting in-house research, feasibility studies and supporting the evaluation
of external technologies. The candidate will have the opportunity to work
in a fast-paced, collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment and
contribute towards the development of novel delivery technologies. The
candidate will be expected to present new findings to review committees, author
technical reports and peer-reviewed publications and submit patent
applications, as required.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph. D in Materials Science,
Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field with at least
2-3 years of post-PhD research experience in the development, characterization
and evaluation of various drug delivery systems. Hands-on experience in
polymer/materials characterization techniques such as electron microscopies
(SEM, TEM), rheology, DSC, GPC and DLS will be required. Prior experience
with protein delivery systems is preferred. A proven track record for
strong research accomplishments in the form of peer-reviewed publications and
patent applications is a plus. The ability to work effectively in a
cross-functional and collaborative environment is highly desirable.
Candidate must have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability
to drive for results.
