Position Summary:
The Associate Vice President, Financial Aid & Services (Continuing & Re-Entry Students) position is a full-time employment opportunity. The Associate Vice President (AVP) holds responsibility over staff and vendors at various locations that support continuing and re-entry students and their associated payment options. The AVP will be responsible for supporting the proper administration of Title IV, Military, Corporate, Direct Bill, Reimbursement and Cash payment options in accordance with university, state, and federal program requirements and that outstanding receivables owed to the university are effectively managed according to policy. The AVP works collaboratively with other business units to ensure the student experience is seamless, our services are delivered timely and resources are managed effectively.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Understand, pursue, and strive to fulfill the university’s mission and core values.

  • Establish appropriate protocols and oversight on supporting vendors.
  • Comply with all regulatory and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination and completion of any compliance audit, or action plans.
  • Support and incorporate financial literacy initiatives.
  • Maintain industry and technical knowledge and implement new regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve processing exceptions, identify root-cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide guidance related to the compliance of Title IV and Military Programs.
  • Participate or initiate projects and programs that support student retention or engagement, improve the accuracy and delivery of our services or reduce risk.
  • Plan, organize and manage department to ensure consistent achievement of goals.
  • Supports a team of professionals that exercise Professional Judgment.
  • Applies thorough knowledge of financial aid application procedures, federal needs analysis. methodologies, and financial aid packaging policies and procedures.
  • Oversee recruiting, training, persistence, and development of departmental staff.
  • Participate on internal or external committees as appropriate.
  • Support the Vice President Financial Aid & Services and other department peers as needed.
  • Ensure the following actions are accurate and occur timely for all payment options (Title IV, Military, Corporate, Tuition Reimbursement and Cash):
o Re-entry requirements are enforced, additional documents or information is collected
o Renewal applications received are evaluated
o Students are kept informed and escalations are resolved
o Corrections, rejects and holds are worked effectively and resolved
o Appropriate protocols are followed for students requiring additional documents
o Designated staff will use professional judgment consistently and according to policy
o Students are correctly awarded funds and award letters are sent
o Funds are disbursed according to schedule
o Revisions, adjustments or additional funds are processed
o Transactions, documents and programs dollars are reconciled
o Payment plans are enforced according to policy
o Loan counseling is performed at appropriate intervals
o Student invoices are accurate and delivered according to schedule
o Management reports are generated and evaluate regularly

Minimum Requirements:
  • Ten+ (10) years of direct program management.
  • Seven+ (7) years of post-secondary experience as a Financial Aid Director.
  • Five+ (5) years leveraging university student information systems and applications.
  • Experience with call centers technologies, including the Work Force Management, CRM, Dialer, Chat and call center phone systems.
  • Experience in training and motivating staff in a decentralized environment and managing services from a third party vendors.
  • Direct P&L responsibility.
  • Experience with CampusVue or similar student information system, NSLDS, National Student Clearinghouse, CPS, COD.
  • Able to travel 30% of the time.
  • Excellent management, communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong compliance orientation and experience with regulatory environment and audits.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft® Office Word®, Excel®, Outlook®, and PowerPoint®.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master Degree from a regionally accredited or approved nationally accredited institution.
  • Experience with Avaya Phone and/or CampusVue System.
  • Ability to:

o manage a large team in a complex integrated environment and supporting vendors

Education:
  • Bachelor degree from a regionally accredited or approved nationally accredited institution required.
