The Assistant Director for Marketing will provide a broad range of communications, marketing, and external relationship support to Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS). This individual will report to the GIS Director and will work closely with existing GIS sponsors, as well as potential new sponsors in an effort to cultivate and develop successful long-term partnerships.
Detailed Description Major Responsibilities include:
Prospect identification, cultivation and relationship management
Detailed and timely follow-up with existing sponsors and partners
Recruitment of new corporate partners
Development of strong research laboratory program sponsorship
Manage sponsor support for GIS students
Work with research personnel to ensure required lab equipment needs are supported
Develop proposals, marketing materials and branding strategies
Provide writing and editing support for outbound communication which may include promotional materials, website content, reports, etc.
Edit and provide guidance to reports and presentations to ensure alignment with the department's strategies, priorities, and goals
Review and edit existing promotional materials for content and marketing effectiveness
Coordinate communications projects and web site development
Work with the GIS Director and others to determine target areas and potential emerging focus areas
Develop subsequent year relationship and business development plans
Represent GIS at technical conferences, tradeshows, events, and meetings
Establish and maintain relationships with industry, government and non-government organizations, and other important stakeholders
Bachelor's degree required
Five or more years of experience in marketing or business/partnership development
Excellent written and verbal communication, including public speaking skills
Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently
Strong research, organizational, and computer skills
Excellent people skills and an enthusiastic attitude
Desired Skills and Abilities:
Technical background strongly preferred
Experience in manufacturing and/or industrial management
Highly motivated and self-directed
Project organization and management skills
