      Within Ernst & Young's Assurance service line, Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) professionals provide advisory services encompassing accounting and regulatory support on accounting change and special matters; accounting processes and controls support (remediation, long-term contract accounting and cost accounting); GAAP conversion and implementation; IPO and other public offering assistance; on call financial reporting advice; and transaction accounting and financial reporting assistance (purchase price allocation).

      We currently have a career opportunity for a Senior Manager - Accounting Policy.

      The Senior Manager will lead project teams engaged in various activities to assist companies establish or maintain an effective policy function, including assisting with drafting, revising, or decommissioning policies and procedures, advising on compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and prevailing regulations and industry standards, and providing thought leadership on industry best practices. As a key executive on the engagement team, the Senior Manager will collaborate with senior financial management at Fortune 100 Companies and leading private equity firms, and is expected to have a strong technical background and understanding of complex accounting matters.

      Responsibilities
      ·


      Assist clients in creating and revising accounting policies and corporate accounting policy manuals/library, and also in implementing new accounting standards.
      ·
      Provide proactive, expert consultation and technical support on business transactions (e.g., mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, asset sales and leases) by identifying and addressing accounting policy and reporting inconsistencies, issues and opportunities.
      ·
      Advise clients on best practices to enhance clients’ accounting policies and their accounting policy function.
      ·
      Lead and participate on multiple engagement teams as a firm executive within FAAS.
      ·
      Collaborate with the partner and client to determine appropriate FAAS strategy that addresses risk and manages client expectations relating to deliverables.
      ·
      Ensure that the FAAS engagement team understands the client's needs and expectations and that the work product is client-focused, clear, accurate and well-presented.
      ·
      Ensure work is delivered timely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
      ·
      Deliver effective execution of the FAAS service delivery framework.
      ·
      Work with other service lines in providing an integrated service delivery.
      ·
      Monitor the FAAS engagement team's performance against the budget, and alter if necessary.
      ·
      Identify and communicate relevant trends, developments, and key performance drivers relevant to the client.
      ·
      Consult with appropriate resources on complex accounting issues.
      ·
      Participate in sales of new FAAS work.
      ·
      Develop and maintain strong networks, both inside and outside the firm, to communicate the value of EY services and grow the business.
      ·
      Endeavor to serve clients, to be visible in the marketplace, and to be recognized as a quality service provider.
      To qualify, candidates must have:
      ·
      Bachelor's degree and approximately 8 to 10 years of related work experience, although not required, a graduate degree is preferred (e.g., JD, MBA, PhD)
      ·
      CPA certification and at least 5 years of experience working as an auditor for a public accounting firm
      ·
      Expert level of understanding of current GAAP, financial reporting principles and SEC regulatory requirements
      ·
      Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and recommending appropriate strategies and accounting treatment of routine and complex financial transactions
      ·
      Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders in order to foster trust and influence key decisions
      ·
      Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; ability to take large volumes of complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner to senior management.
      ·
      Strong management skills to lead teams, delegate appropriately, mentor, review performance and counsel employees
      ·
      Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills
      ·
      Ability and comfort level in researching client inquires and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies
      ·
      Successful candidates must also have willingness and ability to travel on occasion within North America.
