The Assistant Director of Sports Information is responsible for assisting in promoting and publicizing of the intercollegiate athletic teams. Duties include: serving as the main publicist for the NCAA Division I men's and women's ice hockey programs, working with NCAA Division III athletic teams, press release production, department publications including media guides and alumni newsletters, web site management, home statistical service, supervision of student assistants, media relations, radio and television broadcast relations, new media initiatives including live video, blogs, Twitter and Facebook, assistance with an intern position, assisting with the daily operation of the Sports Information Department, and other duties as assigned. |
The sucessful candidate will have, at a minimum, a Bachelor's Degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field; three or more years experience in a collegiate athletic media relations or sports information office; effective communication (verbal and written), organization, and human relations skills; proficiency with computers and software applications including word processing, and desktop publishing; knowledge of web site technology, InDesign and Stat Crew Software. Candidates must have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations along with a philosophy compatible with a multi-classified liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.
