Chase Operations and Investigations (“COI”) within the JPMC Legal Department was
recently established to provide legal support to various Chase Consumer and Community Banking (“CCB”) LOBs to achieve the goal of improving customer experience and bringing consistency and efficiency within a robust control environment across our consumer
The Mortgage Legal Review Team (“MLRT”) is a division within COI and is seeking an experienced attorney to join a 10 lawyer team responsible for overseeing approximately 120 law firms providing foreclosure and bankruptcy services to JPMC’s mortgage banking business. The team conducts periodic onsite reviews of the law firms, conducts more frequent remote file reviews, works with the senior management at the law firms to managing ongoing issues between reviews, and supports the line of business in managing its relationship with this group of law firms.
The successful candidate will work closely with the business partners responsible for managing foreclosure/bankruptcy law firms to provide better oversight by assisting to enhance policies and procedures related to oversight of foreclosure/bankruptcy counsel network. The position requires significant interaction with both the attorneys and staff of the law firms providing foreclosure and bankruptcy services in all 50 states.
This position also requires significant travel in connection with the onsite review process.
The position will be located in downtown Manhattan/Brooklyn, NY or in Iselin, NJ.
A JD degree and admission to the bar in good standing in either New York or New Jersey. Membership of the bar or in house counsel certification in the state in which the attorney will be based is required.
At least seven years of legal experience with increased responsibilities and challenges demonstrated over time is required. Ten years experience is preferred.
Mortgage banking or other analogous financial services experience is strongly preferred
Experience specifically in foreclosure or bankruptcy matters is preferred.
Some background in regulatory or enforcement matters is preferred
Excellent analytical skills and judgment, verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to work effectively and multitask successfully in fast-paced and complex business environment is required.
