The BAC Analyst is a senior level complex position that will act as a Data Analyst/Programmer in the Genomics and Proteomics Core Laboratories- Bioinformatics Analysis Core (GPCL BAC). The incumbent will work independently and be responsible for the design and maintenance of analysis tools and other complex software resources for the analysis of Genomic data. They will instruct other staff and independently analyze complex data from microarrays and multiplexed biomarker studies and perform decision modeling based on the scientific needs and goals of each study in order to prioritize study designs for GPCL BAC customers. The incumbent will develop and evaluate new algorithms and software that facilitate the comparative evaluation of alternative approaches for high-dimensional and multiplexed biomarker data analysis and cross-train for the analysis of data of other types and work as a team with other data analysts. They will meet with investigators to discuss and define study design and data analysis strategies and to review project progress and results reporting. The incumbent will work independently and develop new methods and computer source code as well as interpret data from existing analysis methods and analyze the validity of the data analysis techniques. They will advise other GPCL-BAC staff members on standard methods of statistical inference. They will explore a range of multivariate statistics methods for use in various genomic and proteomic contexts, including survival analysis, and will develop new methods of analysis suitable for application to basic, translational, and clinical research. They will develop project reports suitable for review by the Bioinformatics Scientific Director and will perform other work duties as assigned. Master’s degree preferred. Five years of experience in algorithm evaluation and development for Genomics and Proteomics related data analysis Bioinformatics related disciplines. Programming skills should include C++, JAVA, Javascript, web development, database integration. Experience in statistics and statistical analysis preferred.
