Minimum Education and Experience:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perfom medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

NOTE: Some positions may require special licenses or certification.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
This position is being recruited at the Contributing Competency Level under the career banding program. The hiring range for the Contributing Level is $25,300 - $26,158. The salary grade equivalent for this position is 50.

Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees, who provide 24 hour service by providing daily cleaning service and floor care for approximately 245 buildings on campus.

General duties include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting and trash removal. Employee provides routine and detailed cleaning daily of assigned campus building interior and exterior areas including but not limited to offices, lounges, restrooms, student housing, classrooms, laboratories, entrances, exits and stairways.

Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.
Position is designated an adverse weather emergency position and the employee is subject to being placed on-call and is required to report to work in the event of an adverse weather emergency. Position is designated as a public health emergency position and the employee is subject to being required to report to work in the event of a public health emergency.

Requires demonstrated ability to understand and follow work orders and product instructions, product labels, product directions, other written job materials, and understand verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Six month of institutional or commercial cleaning experience preferred. Strong preference for housekeeping experience in a university or medical setting. Experience working with commercial cleaning equipment.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements:
Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion. Applicants must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs.
