The Enterprise Analytics team, within IT-Software Development Services, is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing campus-wide reporting, analysis, and decision support solutions for East Carolina University. Fulfilling these responsibilities requires the investigation, synthesis, modeling, and integration of data within the Banner system, and among a variety of legacy and third-party business systems. Through these and related activities, Enterprise Analytics provides primary support for the University's business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives. Members of this team also work closely with departmental units across the campus to educate the University's information workers in the effective use of ad hoc analysis and reporting software, and where necessary, assist functional areas in planning and developing custom software-based solutions that automate and inform business and decision making processes.
This position provides Enterprise Analytics with expertise in advanced analysis and solution development for the University's Operational Data Store (ODS) and East Carolina University's Business Intelligence Center (ecuBIC). This position performs highly complex analytical software development activities associated with the design, creation, and implementation of new data models and database Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes. Development of these solutions requires the highest level of analytical and programming knowledge and skills. Such projects comprise a range of special assignments that often integrate with larger enterprise level systems and use a variety of development tools to provide access to academic and administrative data residing in a number of diverse databases located on departmental servers, SunOS Enterprise Servers, and large-scale systems. In summary, this applications analyst is responsible for planning, developing and/or enhancing, and overseeing the most technically complex of business intelligence solutions.
This position is also responsible for providing Ellucian ODS technical consultation to other applications technicians/analysts, project leaders, managers, departments, faculty, and related university personnel and organizations. This position must also perform work responsibilities with minimum technical supervision. This position will often function as the top-level technical contributor to the Ellucian ODS system.
Candidates must possess working knowledge of each of the following: Oracle and SQL Server databases, SCT SunGard's Operational Data Store and its administrative tools, SunGard's Web Tailor (for maintaining metadata), and PL/SQL.
Minimum 3+ years of experience using Oracle RDBMS engine with proficiency in SQL, and PL/SQL.
Minimum 3+ years of experience of conducting clients-facing interviews to define/analyze data architecture and reporting requirements
Bachelor's degree with nine credit hours in programming and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Advanced level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
