The Business Systems Analyst's (BSA) role is to plan, design, develop, and deploy efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. The Business Systems Analyst is also responsible for analyzing system issues and determining probable causes and possible solutions. The BSA must have balanced business and I.T. capabilities and work closely with the business function that he/she supports to gain a solid understanding of their business process and information needs. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.
Develop good working relationship with the supported business area and be viewed as key I.T. support for the business functions/processes.
Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
Create system design proposals.
Work with business leadership and users to best address business requirements by performing ongoing system configuration and workflow changes.
Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
Create systems models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to application developers.
Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and required actions.
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
Conduct research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.
Work closely with documentation and training personnel to ensure training materials are created and training is conducted in a timely and effective manner. May perform functions of technical writer or trainer as required.
Qualified candidates will possess:
College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, or management information systems and 2 years related work experience.
Prior experience as a BA with Salesforce.com preferred.
Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products in the business area that BSA will support
Experience in the business area that BSA will support.
Experience in distribution or retail industries.
Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
Demonstrated project management skills.
