Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

This position is being recruited for at the Journey level under the Career Banding program. The hiring range for this position is $30,888- $37,068, and the salary grade equivalent is 65. *********************************************************************************************************************************************** POSITION DESCRIPTION: The person in this position functions as a member of the event management team in logistical planning and execution of Athletic Department policies for football and Olympic sports. This position schedules operations and event security staff for Olympic Sports and football home events. The selected candidate will manage tasks, communicate policies and procedures and deliver appropriate training related to departmental and unit mission, goals and vision. This person also trains part-time staff in departmental and event management policies, procedures, and customer service to ensure consistent, positive, and safe experiences for all parties at Athletic Department sporting events. This position fills role as game day manager and conference or NCAA operations manager or tournament director for assigned and select events. Requirements for this position include: substantial and increasingly responsible event management experience in a collegiate setting; demonstrated ability to organize and direct work activity of temporary/volunteer and student employees; demonstrated skill and working knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher and various other computer applications. Other requirements of this position include: ability to follow University and departmental policies, procedures and practices; demonstrated written and verbal skills; effective communication skills and the ability to interact with senior level administrators, coaches, faculty and staff; ability to handle sensitive and complex issues that arise during planning and the execution of any game day event. The selected candidate must be extremely organized and an effective leader. This individual should demonstrate high energy, flexibility with work schedule, innovation and demonstrated abilities to recognize potential issues that require effective and efficient problem solving skills and appropriate solutions. This person must also demonstrate excellent customer service skills at all times and to all guests.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in sports administration, sport management or related field. Ability to advise and manage matters related to event operations. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work/supervise, coordinate tasks and establish priorities; direct, access, and train part-time/temporary and student workers. Must demonstrate effective decision making skills and ability to handle high levels of stress and ability to work with time sensitive situations. Attention to detail and ability to work effectively as a team member. Exercise high energy, flexibility, innovation and be capable of recognizing issues and coming up with solutions. Commitment to providing excellent customer service. Design, illustrate, and produce event-related training/policy manuals, credentials, parking passes etc.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements:

May require moving heavy objects; exposure to extreme weather conditions during outside athletic/special events; may involve multiple events and long hours required to work the events; ability to work in crowded areas and navigate stairs.
