The Benchmark Connections Coordinator reports directly to the
Programming Director at the community. The Connections Coordinator is responsible for instructing and supporting residents and associates in Benchmark Connections. The Benchmark Connections Coordinator will also facilitate weekly Benchmark Connections Presentations & Discussion Groups with residents, families, and associates.


Teaches residents, associates & family members how to use the computer, Benchmark Connections and the Internet
Facilitates weekly Benchmark Connections Presentations & Discussion Groups with residents, families and Associates
Works with associates to achieve activation goals for all residents, families & departments
Provides personal training and technical support to residents
Records and submits Benchmark Connections statistics and attendance figures to Programming Director
Reports concerns about attendance numbers and other ‘red flags’ to Programming Director
Selects and posts the ‘Resident of the Month.’ Include resident photos, stories, etc.
Creates collaborative memoirs to share with the community after each discussion group
Introduces Benchmark Connections to new associates
Creates new associate and Department Head accounts
Marketing/ Public Relations
Works closely with the director of Community Relations to ensure all new residents are introduced to Benchmark Connections
Attends family and resident events to promote Benchmark Connections in the community
Strives to educate the community at large about Benchmark’s unique approach to senior living services
Participates in lead generating events

Knowledge and Expertise
Demonstrates proficiency in using computers and the Internet
Expertise in computers and technology

Adheres to all OSHA regulations and safety procedures when lifting, bending, and using equipment
Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, associates, and the community
Demonstrates infection preventions and control
Immediately reports any personal accident or work-related injury
Understands and effectively utilizes emergency response standards and practices

Customer Service
Responds to resident/family requests in a timely manner
Supports the resident’s family, friends, and significant others as ongoing caregivers and members of the caregiving team
Demonstrates understanding of the emotional stress of having a loved one with dementia by responding professionally and sensitively to the family’s needs
Meets customer service standards in a friendly, helpful, courteous manner with resident and family satisfaction a priority
Displays a positive patient and respectful attitude at all times and have a genuine desire to work directly with older adult
Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to cultivate an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration
Troubleshoots issues, presenting problems to the Programming Director or other appropriate department head to collaborate, create solutions, and resolve issues
Collaborates with Benchmark’s Home Office to promote and encourage participation in Benchmark’s annual associate and resident satisfaction surveys

Training and Education
Models validation techniques while assisting and caring for residents
Participates in trainings / in-services as required by Benchmark and state regulations
Attends Benchmark Connections meetings and training sessions

Job Requirements

Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of Technology, Computers, and the Internet

Excellent computer skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to train and motivate others
Clearly understands the philosophy of Assisted Living
Understands the aging process
Demonstrates high-level skill in planning appropriate programs
