To supervise all aspects of specialized Training/Staff Development Unit; including but to limited to evaluating and preparing training programs which meet the organization's needs; training various levels of staff in policies and procedures as related to Benefit Programs; development training materials in collaboration with department head.
Supervisor additionally - ensures that assigned staff fully explains the self-sufficiency message to customers & the temporary nature of assistance. Position reinforces the personal responsibility objective with staff & may provide guidance & direction in the determination of whether a customer can be diverted from assistance; may be required to support local disaster response/emergency operations & performs other duties related to the delivery of services.
Demonstrated success in supervision and/or training. Work experience which demonstrates knowledge of Benefit Programs sufficient to instruct, assist and train others; knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; ability to schedule and manage own workload (for example, interviews, appointments and verifications); knowledge of benefit programs software sufficient to develop training activities utilizing and to instruct others; ability to instruct correct interviewing techniques; ability to collect and organize data sufficient to maintain accurate and complete records, and to prepare reports, in accordance with state and federal deadlines; knowledge of training sufficient to identify training needs of staff, and to plan and implement training responsive to those needs; and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Bachelor's degree in the human services field and human services program experience in a lead or supervisory capacity OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Applicants must be willing to work outside of normal working hours, which may include being on-call for emergencies twenty-four hours a day, including weekends; and serve at an emergency shelter in the event of a community disaster.
Final applicants will be required to submit an updated DMV driving record and possess a valid Virgnia Driver's License, submit to a criminal history investigation and submit to urinalysis screening for illegal drug use. Employees in this position are subject to random drug testing.
