THE POSITION: We are seeking a Billing Analyst position within Public Health Seattle-King County in the Community Health Services Division. This position provides specialized financial and revenue cycle analysis for Public Health Seattle-King County's patient-generated revenues. This position is responsible for the charge/billing process, including third party payments and claims resolution. This position assists management with accounts receivable monitoring, trend analyses, and report development.

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, 40 hours per week. These positions are overtime eligible.

Examples of Duties:
•Assist with interpretation of private, state, and federal billing requirements to assure compliance and optimal revenue, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Department of Social and Health Services, and contracted managed care organizations.
•Coordinate third party payer billing requirements with Public Health clinical, program and business practices staff.
•Process encounter charges manually or with an EMR (electronic medical record)
•Make recommendations to third party payers for billing requirements.
•Develop and distribute claims data reports.
•Assist with coding for proper billing and reimbursement.
•Review charges for billing compliance and accurate data collection.
•Provide analysis/recommendations to Public Health Centers and/or providers to ensure encounter and billing requirements are met.
•Analyze and resolve suspended, outstanding and/or denied claims.
•Analyze denial trends and provide recommendations to clinical and program management, and business practices staff.
•Reconcile client's financial accounts and claims activity in patient-management system.
•Maintains security and confidentiality of all documents, including patient financial and medical information.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Demonstrated experience gathering and analyzing data
•Demonstrated problem-solving skills
•Demonstrated experience of healthcare insurance billing
•Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and state laws governing insurance billing
•Demonstrated experience with insurance verification systems
•Demonstrated experience with automated systems and software applications
•Knowledge of CPT, ICD, and CDT
•Knowledge of basic accounting principles
•Skilled in working under time constraints and meeting deadlines
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Demonstrated knowledge of Washington state Medicaid programs and billing requirements
•Demonstrated knowledge of Washington state Medicaid client eligibility and benefit packages

•Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.

•Staff may be required to play a role as a first responder in the event of a Public Health emergency.
