Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, this position is responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance and maintain the presence of the Bank of Hawaii brand in the marketplace; overseeing advertising strategies, promotions and activities; and directing the design and production of merchandising and collateral. Specifically, this position manages the Brand, Advertising, and Marketing Promotions functions, as well as key vendor partner relationships and the company’s design and reprographic services. Ensures business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act. In addition, this position is responsible for serving as the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) champion for the unit. This includes planning, executing, monitoring and measuring the service process.
Working with various levels of management, leads the strategic development of advertising in all paid-media formats, develops and executes promotions, merchandising and sales collateral to support the marketing of the Bank of Hawaii brand and products, and works with event staff to activate advertising sponsorship strategies as necessary to achieve corporate sales and brand-equity objectives.
Leads these activities in all markets and geographic areas served by Bank of Hawaii. Establishes and tracks metrics to determine effectiveness of all above activities.
Leads advertising, media, and design agencies and various engaged consultants in the strategic development of branding, advertising, marketing promotions, merchandising, and collateral.
Drives creative development and execution, and integrates work across multiple marketing communications channels.
Ensures marketing communications are compliant with all laws, regulations and industry standards and meet bank policies and procedures.
Leads contract negotiations for agencies, consultants, talent and other strategic vendors as necessary
Develops and manages the brand strategy for all subsidiaries of Bank of Hawaii Corporation as required. Directs the creation of physical expressions of the brand, brand design policies and governance systems.
Ensures that the brand is well communicated and represented across all marketing communications channels, electronic delivery channels, as well as in all physical manifestations of the brand, which may include branches, signage, branded attire, temporary structures and more
Manages two cost centers – Brand, Advertising and Promotions, and Digital Production Center. Responsible for the management of all employees in the department including staffing, compensation, performance management, training and development, succession planning and affirmative action.

The qualified applicant for the Brand, Advertising & Promotions Manager position meets the following basic qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business, marketing, advertising or related area.
10+ years related work experience in advertising, marketing promotions and events management.
Prior experience in managing agencies and vendors, directing and evaluating creative and budget management.
Prior experience working with distributed marketing services providers in a wide geographic area or across many demographic targets.
Uses a personal computer and demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Internet Explorer, Word, Access, Power Point and Excel.
